Heritage Fruit Tree Company

Postby Marcus » Wed May 04, 2011 8:58 pm

The Heritage Fruit Tree Company (and Cooperative) was founded by Marcus Roberts and Andy Howard four years ago. We work as a 'co-op' so there are some differences in the stock and the trees carried by Marcus and Andy respectively and we provide a complimentary range of services. We produce out own heritage apples and other fruit trees using traditional methods and rear our trees using organic methods.

We specialise in local, regional and national heritage varieties of fruit and carry around 200 different varieties, including rare local varieties from Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and Buckinghamshire. Marcus can also provide trees from over 2,000 different varieties from key historical colections and orchards by advance order.

Marcus is also available for consultancy on historic fruit trees and orchard planting, and advises some of our local National Trust properties on historic fruit tree planting, so if you are looking to obtain and plant historic fruit tree, or create a traditional orchard, he will be glad to advise. Marcus is a professionally qualified heritage manager and works in England, France and the Channel Islands on heritage projects and he is a professional historian.

Marcus also provides demonstrations of traditional apple pressing, and juice making, with his own 'Mid-Shires' 4 ton press.

Marcus also provides training in grafting and other aspects of orchard craft to groups and individuals.

He is also a well-established speaker on all aspects of heritage fruit, for local and regional gardening clubs, WI groups and historical groups.

Marcus can be contacted on 01295 712 272, or by email, at mandm.roberts@ukgateway.net.

For Andy's products and services, as part of the co-op, you will need to look at his entry on the MSOG web-site.
